With a bunch of exciting new interactive elements and stunning visuals to boot, you’ll never forget this eye-opening voyage through the caves and tunnels of one of the world’s most famous slate mines.

Before booking this adventure, please carefully review the following restrictions to ensure you and your party meet the minimum participation requirements.
Supervision for under 18’s
1 participating adult 18 yrs+ is required for every 5 children <18 yrs
Walking Ability
Due to the nature of this adventure, participants and spectators require the ability to walk. Babe in arms are not permitted

What to expect from your experience
So what’s involved in the experience? Here we’ll talk you through each step of the process for ultimate peace-of-mind, and you’ll see just how accessible this adventure really is!
Check-in
The first step of any Zip World adventure; arrive half an hour before your adventure start-time to check-in at reception and settle in.
Helmets
The all-important bit – selecting your hard-hat! Once checked-in, you’ll be pointed in the direction of the train station (this is a very short walk from reception), where you’ll grab a helmet and meet your tour guide.
All aboard
Step onto the big yellow underground train, where the real adventure begins. There’s space for 4 people in each cosy compartment, and the 500ft descent will last around 50 seconds. Don’t worry, this isn’t a fast-moving experience.
The tour
Reimagined for 2025, you’ll experience 10 awe-inspiring slate chambers, discover old miners’ tales via incredible AV and light shows, get the chance to interact with some real artefacts and meet some historical characters.
The finale
Prepare to be amazed as you experience the majesty of the underground lake. This incredible finale features a stunning light show alongside the chance to hear a beautiful song, as sang by real miners of Llechwedd.
The journey’s end
Once you’ve spent at least an hour soaking up all the Deep Mine has to offer, you will be guided back to the train to alight once more, and ascend the shaft to daylight. Drop your helmet off at the top, and you’re free to explore everything else Zip World Llechwedd has to offer.

When should I arrive?
You will need to arrive on site ready to check in for your experience 30 minutes prior to your adventure start time.
What should I wear?
You will need to wear warm comfortable clothing suitable to the weather on the day, with walking boots or trainers. Some of our experiences require your arms and legs to be covered, please check individual adventure restrictions to see if this applies to you.
Can I protect my booking if I need to make any last-minute changes?
Yes, you can purchase ticket protection insurance at check-out which will allow you the flexibility to make a last-minute change or cancellation.
Can I book over the phone?
It is quicker to book online, but you’re welcome to call us if you’d prefer; please do so on 01248 601 444. Please note there may be a wait time on the phone, particularly during busy periods.
When are you open?
We are open all year round except Christmas day and Boxing Day. During off-peak seasons, please visit our checkout to see our booking calendar and our opening days. Each site has different opening times and days so please check our website.

How do I book?

Do I need to book in advance or can I just turn up?
We’d always recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. If you turn up without a booking, we will do our best to fit you in, but cannot guarantee this. Please be sure to book in advance if you’re travelling a distance to visit us.

You’ll find us just off the main road, so we’re easily accessible, with bus and train routes nearby too.
