Halloween in South Wales – Monsters of the Mine is back this October 2024!


It’s the spookiest time of the year and Zip World has a host of chilling events to offer for all ages! The nights are growing darker, and you know what that means… it’s Halloween season. During this season, our Zip World sites transform into realms of spine-tingling adventures including eerie woodlands full of clowns and monsters that have woken and escaped from the mines! This is more than just jump-scares, this is adventure unlocked!

Monsters of the Mine, Zip World Tower, South Wales

18th October - 3rd November 2024

Brace yourself for the return of the monsters as they rise from the underworld beneath the mine this Halloween. Join us at our Zip World Tower site in Aberdare to experience a night of frights and screams. Located on top of an old coal mine, our tormented monsters will rise to terrorise you all night! Brave the darkness as you encounter monstrous ghouls around every corner. Nowhere is safe from these gruelling monsters, not even in the car park!

This frightful Halloween experience allows you to choose from a selection of Night Passes to suit your thrill level. You will get to experience the scares of our monsters along with a ride on some of our iconic Tower adventures including Phoenix zip line and the Tower Coaster. These adventures have had a spooky Halloween makeover especially for the event. Enjoy an evening of fun and frights at Zip World Tower’s Monsters of the Mine.

Night Passes

Phoenix Night Pass
This night pass is the ultimate option for an adrenaline-filled evening! Experience our Phoenix zip line as you zoom into the darkness at speeds of up to 70mph. This record-breaking zip line is the fastest seated zip line in the world and is sure to give you that heart-pounding feeling. If that isn’t enough, there will be gruesome monsters waiting for you when you get back to the adventure hub.

Terror Coaster Night Pass
Our Terror Coaster Night Pass will see you tearing around a track in the pitch black on the first two-seater coaster of its kind in Europe. Reach speeds up to 25mph as you sit side-by-side with a family member or friend, and dart through spooky tunnels. The monsters will be roaming and playing their tricks all the same.

Terror Coaster & Cursed Climber Night Pass
This pass is for the adventure seekers who like a challenge and want to get stuck in! The pass will give you access to our Terror Coaster where you will fly around a track at up to 25mph, weaving and winding through tunnels and corners, as well as scaling the Cursed Climber. The Cursed Climber is a three-storey adventure course suspended high above the roaming monsters below. Complete obstacle after obstacle to make your way around the course and test your nerve.

Terror Coaster & Fear Flyer Night Pass
This pass is the perfect choice if you want to stay a little closer to the ground and the fearsome monsters! The slightly less extreme combination of adventures will still give you a sense of adrenaline and fun. Tear around a track in the pitch black on a two-seater coaster and fly over our lurking monsters below on the Fear Flyer zip line. This zip line features two lines so you can brave it with a friend or family member.

Spectator Night Pass
This pass allows you to attend the experience and soak up the Halloween spirit. If you are not into rides or just want to watch the carnage unfold for a friend or your children, then this is the pass for you. If you change your mind last minute and want to take part on an adventure, head to reception to speak to our team.

When and where?
The scare-fest will commence on the 18th October and end on the 3rd November. The event will run from 7:00pm to 10:30pm each evening.
Located at the Zip World Tower site, this spooky adventure hub is just under an hour's drive from Cardiff and Swansea. Set in an old mine, this location is ideal for those looking for a Halloween spook-fest with a difference.

Monsters of the Mine is not for the faint-hearted, we advise that visitors are at least 9+ years of age and please be aware that usual adventure restrictions apply.
