Where better than to spend half term but the glorious North Wales? Snowdonia has countless adventure activities on offer, to suit any age and preference, so if you’re looking for things to do this half term, read on to find out a little bit more about what you and the family can get up to in the area!

Things to do in North Wales this half term

1. Enjoy a toboggan ride at Zip World Betws-y-Coed

On the outskirts of the stunning and popular tourist destination, Betws-Y-Coed, Zip World Betws-Y-Coed is sure to keep the whole family entertained for hours. Boasting 6 different adventure activities, you won’t be stuck for inspiration here. We’d recommend trying out the Fforest Coaster, a rollercoaster-style adventure which has been likened to a toboggan, which will see you and your family ascending through the Welsh woodland, before soaring back down at speeds of up to 25mph. Fear not, if you have younger kids with you (3+), our optional braking system makes this the perfect family-friendly activity. 2. Feed the otters at Conwy Water Gardens
Be at one with nature and head over to Conwy Water Gardens in Rowen for your wildlife fix! This gorgeous little nature reserve will have you feeding ducks, chickens, capybaras and otters as you make your way around the gardens many different areas. This hidden gem is entirely free to enter and is both wheelchair and buggy accessible. Treat yourself to a delicious pancake afterwards in the on-site Dutch Pancake house – you won’t regret it!

3. Take a boat trip around the Conwy Estuary
Grab your family and friends and head to the quaint seaside town of Conwy. This community is rich with history, and is nestled within the walls of 12thcentury Conwy Castle. You can enjoy all the town has to offer and its glorious sights on the Conwy Sightseeing Cruises. Learn lots of fun facts about Conwy whilst you cruise along the river, with amazing views of the Castle, the town and the mountains beyond. The boats have plenty of space and most are roofed, making it the ideal activity for those rainy days too.

4. Escape the rain in the UK’s only underground trampoline park

Trying to keep the kids moving but the weather’s against you? Never fear, we’ve got you covered in Zip World Bounce Below. Located in the heart of Snowdonia in the beautiful Blaenau Ffestiniog, Bounce Below is the UK’s only subterranean bouncy net adventure. Not only can you explore the Caverns, which is the size of St Paul’s cathedral, but you can also keep dry and sheltered from the North Wales weather! Children above the age of 7 and adults alike enjoy this unique activity, which will keep you suitable entertained and get the heart pumping!

5. Tackle the UK’s only mountain cart adventure

Another one for you big kids. Zip World Penrhyn Quarry has recently opened the UK’s only mountain cart track, spanning over 3km of slate road. This adventure will see you taking on twists, turns, berms and tunnels, all to the stunning view of the Snowdonia mountain range. Sit back in your very own gravity-fuelled 3-wheeler and take the track at your own pace; you get 2 goes for £39 here, so there’s plenty of chance to gain confidence with the second run! Whilst you’re there, why not take on the world-famous Velocity 2 too, the world’s fastest zip line.

6. Join the kids in the ultimate soft play centre
Either unleash your inner child or sit back and relax whilst the little ones burn off that energy in the Caernarfon Fun Centre. This giant soft play area covers 14000 square foot and is everything you need under one roof to keep a child of any age entertained. With a café for mum and dad too, this is the perfect half-term destination for those rainy days.

7. Enjoy the sights at the Snowdon Mountain Railway
Step back in time on this traditional steam engine and head up to the highest peak in Wales, travelling 4.7 miles from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon. This fascinating journey will have you marvelling at the sights North Wales has to offer, and not to mention, is an exciting adventure for the younger members of your party!
